    The Echocardiography program is designed to prepare students for work in the allied health field as echocardiographers. The program offers both clinical and didactic instruction and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs. (www.caahep.org)


    Admissions Criteria

    Applicants must submit a completed application and application fee, be at least 18 years of age, submit official high school transcript or GED transcript or official college transcripts, if applicable.


    Licensure, Certification and Employment Opportunities

    Graduates of the Echocardiography program must pass the American Registry of Cardiac Sonographers examination to become a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer.


    Successful completion of this program should enable graduates to pursue echo tech job opportunities in several diagnostic imaging areas such as hospitals, imaging centers, and physicians' offices.


    Echocardiography Diploma Curriculum

    The curriculum for the Echocardiography Diploma program is designed for the quarter system and students may enter the program for the Spring Quarter. To graduate, students must earn a minimum of 122 quarter credit hours. The program generally takes 9 quarters to complete.


    Core Courses include General English and Algebraic Concept. Fundamental Courses include Introduction to Microcomputers and Interpersonal Relations. Occupational Courses include Anatomy and Physiology, Drug Calculation & Administration, Introduction to Health Care, Medical Terminology for Allied Health Sciences, Health Sciences Physics, Health Sciences Chemistry, Electrophysiology and Cardiac Anatomy, Electrophysiology, Cardiovascular Advanced Hemodynamics, Cardiovascular Pathophysiology, Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Fundamentals, Invasive Cardiovascular Fundamentals, Sonographic Physics, Echocardiography Clinical, Professional Development and Comprehensive Registry Review. Some courses may be available online during selected quarters.


    Program and Tuition Costs

    Tuition costs $4,300, books and other supplies $1,400 and registry exam is $400.
