Hudson Valley Community College
Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is currently offering a certificate in Echocardiography through their School of Health Sciences and Medical Imaging Department. The certificate program is a one year curriculum that has a specialized concentration within the field of sonography.
. The program has received New York Education Department Accreditation and is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. HVCC coordinates echo-cardio academic study with clinical experience during two terms as well as a clinical component of one summer. The clinical experience will affiliate the student with at least eight cardiology departments. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible to sit for the ARDMS exam.
Program Entrance Requirements and Course Outlines
To be eligible for the echocardiography certificate program, candidates must hold either an Associate's degree in an Allied Health Program or Bachelor's Degree with 8 credits of Anatomy and Physiology and direct hospital patient care.
Students will be enrolled in Echocardiography Principles & Instrumentation, Echocardiography I, Anatomy/Physiology of the Heart, Echocardiography Clinic I, II + III, Pathology of the Heart and Diagnostic Sonography II.

The program not only prepares the graduate for employment, but also for transfer to four year degree programs. Hudson Valley's articulation agreement with Empire State College allows the graduate to pursue a baccalaureate degree while employed full-time.
