<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><strong>Question:</strong> </span><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">I am currently employed as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Do I have to become a Radiology Technician before going into the field of echocardiography?<br />

<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"><strong>Answer:</strong> </span><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Dear AJ,</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">It’s good to hear from you and thank you for contacting us with your<br />
question. Most </span><a href="http://www.echocardiographer.net/echocardiographer-schools.php"><span style="font-size: small; color: #800080; font-family: Times New Roman;">Echo Tech programs</span></a><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"> will accept any 2 year allied health<br />
field degree, including nursing. <span class="caps">LVN</span>’s and <span class="caps">LPN</span>’s however fall into a case<br />
by case gray area (with most programs in your favor) because most are not<br />
full associate’s degree programs.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">Because the need is so high for trained </span><a href="http://www.echocardiographer.net/echocardiographer-information.php"><span style="font-size: small; color: #800080; font-family: Times New Roman;">echocardiographers</span></a><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;">, most schools<br />
look favorably on <span class="caps">LVN</span>’s. Contact the schools you are interested in to<br />
find out their position on accepting <span class="caps">LVN</span>’s. Some may require a couple of<br />
extra prerequisites. Good Luck with everything!</span></p>
